The Academy is on the move! Members are invited to join us for a rockin’ good time at Edelman Museum and Fossil Park. Hop aboard the coach bus at 9:00 a.m. and enjoy an engaging presentation from Academy Educators, Amber Guzzi and Buddy Muhler, during the ride.
Once at the museum, we’ll begin our visit with a guided tour of the Cretaceous Galleries, where we’ll see life-sized depictions of the creatures that roamed the land and sea of New Jersey. Next, grab lunch at the Quarry Grounds Café, and dine in our reserved lunch space. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch, which can be stored onsite. Please note, there is no refrigeration or microwave access.
After lunch, it’s time to get our hands dirty! We’ll be digging for real fossils at the Quarry Dig. This 45-foot-deep, former Inversand marl pit has revealed over 100,000 fossils since the 1920s. As part of the experience, you will be able to keep up to three fossils from your find.
Our trip will end at 2:00 p.m., and we will travel back to the Academy.
